KAILUA-KONA, Hawai’i—Lucia Lopez Ortega shot a 4-under 69 to lead the San José State women’s golf team to a sixth-place finish after the first round of the Pac-12 Preview at the Nanea Golf Course (par 73, 6,449 yards).
- Lopez Ortega was one of two Spartans to shoot under par for the round. She made six birdies during the round, finishing with two birdies and two pars over her final four holes.
- Kajsa Arwefjäll is tied for 11th at two-under 71, making four birdies and 12 pars on the day.
- Darae Chung shot even-par 73 with four birdies and is tied for 20th.
- Moa Andersson is tied for 43rd at 4-our 77, while Rebecca Gyllner is tied for 47th at 5-over 78.
- The Spartan are one shot behind UCLA, two shots behind Stanford and three shots behind Washington in the team standings. Arizona and Southern California lead the field at 11-under 282.
- Second round action begins with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. HT/9:30 a.m. PT. The Spartans begin the day on holes 6-10 with UCLA, Colorado and Oregon State.
