Spartans Travel to New Mexico for the Mountain West Indoor Championship

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – San José State returns to New Mexico for this year's Mountain West Indoor Championship, February 22-24. Their last meet was at the Don Kirby Invitational, where the Spartans broke multiple records.

WOMEN:

  • Aliyah Williams set another record, this time in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.2, taking seventh in the event.
  • Alyssa BeanSara MostellerSavana Dutton and Williams also achieved a new record in the 4x400 relay, with a time of 3:38.26, finishing in third place.
  • Bean returns to the Mountain West Championship. At last year's event, Bean broke the school record for the 400m dash with a time of 53.41.
  • Bean had also set the school record in the women's 200m dash at last year's event, with a time of 23.67.
  • Emilia Sjostrand continues to have a strong indoor, finishing first in the triple jump event at 13.96-meters.
  • At last year's Mountain West Championship, Sjostrand was SJSU's first Mountain West champion of the season in the Long Jump event with a distance of 6.48m (21'3.25") and 6.29m (20'7.75").

MEN:

  • Christopher CoatsJeremiah WalkerHarry Overstreet and Jaden Smith finished second with a new record in the 4x400 with a time of 3:07.57.
  • Coats returns for the Mountain West Championship, where last year, he placed first in the 400m Dash at 46.27 seconds.
  • Coats also took third place in the Men's 200m Dash that year, after finishing with a time of 21.07.
  • Smith is also returning for this year's Mountain West Indoor event after placing sixth in the 200-Meter Dash event, with a time of 21.33.
  • Demaris Waters finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.76, and also set a personal best in the prelim event with a 7.71-second run.
  • At last year's Mountain West Championship, Waters won the Men's 60m Hurdles with a time of 7.72.
  • Micah Hairston took sixth in 60-meter hurdles with an 8.12 time.
  • Malachi Snow also ran a personal best in the prelim with a 7.79.
  • Christopher Malone set a new personal best in the 800-meter run with a 1:53.36.
