Rice & Allen Go 2-0 For Spartans at Battle of the Bay

STANFORD, Calif.—Cheyenne Rice and Teila Allen won both of their matches on Friday as the San José State beach volleyball team played two duals at the Battle of the Bay at the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.

The Spartans fell to Saint Mary’s, 3-2, in the first dual of the day.

  • Rice and Allen recorded the Spartans’ first point of the day with a straight-set win, 21-17, 22-20.
  • Jaida Ward and Jada Hall earned the second point with a 21-9, 21-15 win.
  • Siena Brewster and Tessa Rogers won the second set of their match, 22-20, to force a fifth set before falling 15-9.

San José State fell to UC Davis, 4-1.

  • Rice and Allen recorded the only Spartan point with a 21-17, 22-24, 15-11 win.
  • Ward and Hall went three sets in their match, winning the first set 21-16, but falling in two very close sets, 21-19, 16-14.

UP NEXT—The Spartans play two more duals at the Battle of the Bay on Saturday – Oregon at 2 p.m. and No. 2 Stanford at 6 p.m. Admission is free at the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.
