LOS ANGELES – Taylor Squires and Reina Zermeno each hit a home run to lead San José State softball (11-14, 2-1 MW) in an 11-8 loss at LMU (14-13, 0-0 WCC) on Sunday.
- The Spartans got off to a strong start in the first two innings putting up six runs to take an early lead over the Lions.
- Zermeno launched a three-run home run over the centerfield fence in the first and the Spartans would score three more runs in the second inning after an error.
- Zermeno went 2-for-4 with four RBIs.
- Zermeno hit her team leading third home run of the season.
- Squires went 2-for-4 with a home run, one RBI with two runs scored.
- Squires home run was the first of her career as a spartan.
- Aubrie Thomas went 1-for-4 with two runs scored.
- Haley Reeve went 1-for-4 with one run scored.
- Ahmiya Noriega had a pinch-hit RBI double in the top of the seventh.
- Korie Thomas had two walks and one run scored.
