Spartans Track & Field Split Squad for Two Competitions This Weekend

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San José State track & field team continue its start to the outdoor season on Friday and Saturday as the team will split and compete in the Stanford Invitational as well as the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, hosted by Stanford and San Francisco State respectively.

  • Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps and Throws will compete in Palo Alto, Calif. at the Stanford Invitational.  
  • The distance crew will compete in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic hosted by San Francisco State at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif. 
  • The Spartans are coming off of a strong performance at the Hornet Invitational last weekend in Sacramento where they had multiple first place finishes in the women’s 4x400 meter, women’s 4x100 meter, men’s 4x100 meter and the men’s 110 meter hurdles. 
  • In the women's 4x400 meter, Sarah Mosteller, Aliyah Williams, Savana Dutton and Alyssa Bean finished first with a time of 3:41.03
  • Williams placed second in the women's 400 meter dash at the Hornet Invitational with a time of 55.29 seconds a personal best for her. 
  • Bean, Selena Arjona-Alcazar, Eve Divinity, Morgan Little and Nakai Johnson finished first in the women's 4x100 meter race with a time of 45.29 seconds.
  • Demaris Waters earned first place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.75 seconds. 
  • In the men's 4x100 meter race Malachi Snow, Issac Davis, Jaden Smith, Cameron Tarver and Jeremiah Walker finished first with a time of 39.95 seconds. 
  • Snow finished third in the men's 110 meter hurdles with his time of 13.88 seconds, a personal best for him. 
  • The Spartans are coming off of a successful indoor season where they saw seven Mountain West titles and had appearances in the NCAA National Indoor Championships from Emilia Sjostrand and Sky Hagan.
  • Sjostrand earned All-American honors in the indoor triple jump after finishing in second place at the Indoor National meet, and she is the defending Mountain West outdoor champion in both the long jump and triple jump.

 

UP NEXT: The Spartans will continue the outdoor season while staying local, competing in the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, CA on April 5-6.
