NAPA, Calif.—Kajsa Arwefjäll shot a 6-under 66 to jump 24 spots to tie for first place and helped the San José State women’s golf team move into fifth place after the second round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown Tuesday at the Silverado Resort and Spa.
- Arwefjäll is tied with Catherine Park from Southern California at 5-under, 139.
- Arwefjäll made seven birdies, one bogey and 10 pars for her round, with a clean card over her final 10 holes of the day.
- She leads the field in par-4 scoring at 4-under and is tied for first in birdies made with 12.
- Arwefjäll shot the low round of the day and the tournament so far, and was just one of two players to shoot in the 60s during the second round.
- Her 66 is the second-lowest score she has shot as a Spartan, only her 64 shot in the third round of the USF Intercollegiate in September of 2022 is lower.
- Louisa Carlbom and Moa Andersson are tied for 43rd at 6-over 150. Carlbom shot a 3-over 75 for the second round, while Andersson had a 78 on Tuesday.
- Lucia Lopez Ortega is tied for 55th at 7-over 151, while Darae Chung is tied for 63rd at 9-over 153.
- Rebecca Gyllner, playing as an individual, is tied for 21st at 2-over 146. She shot a 77 in the second round.
- She is tied with Park in par-5 scoring among the field at -5.
- The Spartans moved up one spot in the team standings to fifth at 13-under 589, and are four shots behind Pepperdine in fourth place.
- The team is tied with USC for the most birdies made over the two days with 33.
UP NEXT – The final round is a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Spartans begin on holes 5-9, with Texas, TCU and Oregon.
