NAPA, Calif.—Moa Andersson shot a team-best even-par 72 and helped the San José State women’s golf team finish sixth after the first round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown on Monday at the Silverado Resort and Spa.
- Andersson is tied for 18th with her 72. She made four birdies and her first collegiate eagle during the round. She finished the round going eagle-birdie on holes 8 and 9.
- The Spartans shot a 5-over 293 for the first round. The team made 18 birdies for the round, the third-most for a team on Monday.
- Kajsa Arwefjäll is tied for 27th at 1-over 73, making five birdies during the round and finishing with birdies on her final two holes.
- Lucia Lopez Ortega and Darae Chung are tied for 35th at 2-over 74. Lopez made four birdies on her round, finishing with back-to-back birdies.
- Chung was 3-under through her first 12 holes, making three birdies and nine pars.
- Louisa Carlbom is tied for 47th at 3-under 75. She made two birdies in her final five holes of the day.
- Rebecca Gyllner, playing as an individual, shot a 3-under 69 and is tied for third. She made seven birdies during her round including four over her final five holes.
- Gyllner is tied for first in birdies made among players in the field.
UP NEXT – The Spartans begin the second round Tuesday at 8:42 a.m. off of the first tee with Texas, TCU and Denver. Gyllner begins her round at 8:30 a.m., also off of the first tee.
