CLOVIS, Calif. – Ajamu Reed and Emilia Sjostrand each won gold in the Men’s and Women’s Long Jump, while Malachi Snow set a new meet record in the Men’s 110m Hurdles for San José State Track & Field after the second day of competition at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships in Clovis on Friday from Veteran’s Memorial Stadium.
Reed won the first gold medal of the weekend for the Spartans in the Men’s Long Jump and he is the first SJSU athlete to win the Men’s Long Jump at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships. Sjostrand on her last attempt of the night, set a new lifetime best with a jump of 6.50 meters to win the gold medal in Women’s Long Jump and broke her own school record. Snow set a new record for the Mountain West Outdoor Championships in the Men’s 110m Hurdles with a time of 13.43. In addition, Snow qualified for three finals on Championship Saturday and was amongst 10 other Spartans on day two of competition to qualify for at least one final.
- Reed in the Men’s Long Jump won the event with a season best jump of 7.81 meters for the first gold medal of the weekend for the Spartans.
- Reed becomes the first SJSU athlete to win the Men’s Long Jump at the MW Outdoor Championships.
- Sjostrand won the Women’s Long Jump on her last attempt with a lifetime best jump of 6.50 meters.

- Snow also running in the Men’s 100m Dash Prelim won the first heat with a time of 10.31 to qualify for another final on Saturday.
- Snow will be running in three finals on Saturday.
- Issac Davis in the Men’s 100m Dash Prelim qualified for the final with a time of 10.56.
- Cameron Tarver also in the Men’s 100m Dash Prelim qualified for the final with a time of 10.57.
- Demaris Waters in the Men’s 110m Hurdles Prelim won the first heat to qualify for championship Saturday with a time of 13.68.
- Micah Hairston was the third Spartan to qualify for the final on Saturday in the Men’s 110m Hurdles with a time of 13.96.
- Snow, Waters and Hairston had the three top times in the Prelim going in to championship Saturday.
- Sky Hagan in the Women’s 100m Hurdles Prelim won the third heat to qualify for championship Saturday with a time of 13.47.
- Ma’Nia Tidwell in the Women’s 100m Hurdles Prelim had a career best time of 14.71.
- Jaden Smith in the Men’s 400m Dash Prelim won the first heat with a career best time of 46.07 to qualify for the final on Saturday.
- Harry Overstreet also in the Men’s 400m Dash Prelim qualified for the final with a time of 47.61
- Selena Arjona-Alcazar in the Women’s 100m Dash Prelim qualified for the final on Saturday with a career best time of 11.64 .
- Nakai Johnson also in the Women’s 100m Dash Prelim had a personal best time of 12.03.
- Kendall McCoy in the javelin for the Heptathlon had a career best throw of 18.28m
- McCoy in the 800m of the Heptathlon had a career best time of 2:33.32
- McCoy finished with 4330 points overall.
- Riley Costales had a career best time of 2:27.37 in the 800m of the Heptathlon
- Costales finished with 4601 points overall.
