Spartans Tied For 5th After Second Round of NCAA Regional

 

CLE ELUM, Wash.—Kajsa Arwefjäll shot a 2-under 70 to lead the San José State women’s golf team up the leaderboard to a tie for fifth place after the second round of the NCAA Cle Elum Regional at the Tumble Creek Club.

 

  • Arwefjäll is tied for seventh at even-par 144. She made five birdies during her round including three over her final six holes of the day, three birdies and three pars.
  • Lucia Lopez Ortega and Louisa Carlbom each shot a 5-over 77 and are tied for 31st at 7-over 151.
  • Moa Andersson moved up 21 places after shooting a one-over 73 and is now tied for 36th at 8-over 152. She had three birdies during her round.
  • Rebecca Gyllner is tied for 50th at 11-over, 155, after recording a 79 on Tuesday.
  • The Spartans are tied for fifth with Long Beach State at 19-over 595. The team shot a 9-over 297 for the second round to move up two spots.
  • SJSU is four shots behind Arizona State in fourth place and 10 shots behind third-place Virginia.
  • The top-five teams and the top individual, not on an advancing team, will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 17-22.

 

UP NEXT –Final-round action begins Wednesday morning for the Spartans at 9:00 a.m. on the 10th hole with Arizona State and Long Beach State.
