Spartans Football Returns to 860 AM KTRB for 2024 Season

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State radio veteran Kevin Richardson, 12-year NFL veteran Jason Fisk, and former college football standout, longtime journalist, and retired head high school football coach Buck Roggeman will call the 2024 football season on the Spartan Media Network on 860 AM KTRB and sister station 1220 AM KDOW.

The Spartans' first two games, Aug. 29 at 7:00 p.m. and Sept. 14 at 4:00 p.m. (PT), will be broadcasted on 1220 AM KDOW due to KTRB scheduling conflicts, with the remainder of the games on the Spartans’ flagship, KTRB.

"We are looking forward to a new era of football here at San José State under the direction of first-year head coach Ken Niumatalolo," said Senior Deputy Athletics Director Scott MacDonald. "We explored additional opportunities to bring our football and basketball games to our fans through different audio platforms, but after listening to some of our key constituents, we were able to work with Playfly Sports to get the Spartans back on KTRB radio."

This is the third season in which 860 AM KTRB is the flagship station for San José State Athletics. Richardson will handle play-by-play duties for the Spartans, and Fisk and Roggeman will rotate analyst duties as the season progresses.

"I am excited about my 17th year on the mic for San José State football," said Richardson. "New head coach Ken Niumatalolo brings a disciplined style of football that I am looking forward to calling in 2024 as the Spartans look for their third bowl game in a row."

Richardson began broadcasting for SJSU football in 2008 and, during his time, has called 174 football games, including the Military Bowl, Cure Bowl, Arizona Bowl, and Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Richardson played football at Stanford and had 289 tackles to his credit, including leading the Cardinal in tackles in 1987.

All broadcasts begin 30 minutes before kickoff with a pregame show and will end with a 30-minute postgame show.
