Spartans Tied for Third After Day One of Palouse Collegiate

PULLMAN, Wash. Keshav Mungali shot a 136 (-6) after 36 holes to lead San José State men’s golf on the first day of the Palouse Collegiate at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash. on Tuesday.

  • The Spartans as a team shot a 272 (-12) in the first round and a 280 (-4) in the second round for a total 36 hole score of 552 (-16) and currently sit tied for fourth place out of the 15 teams.
  • Mungali shot a 68 (-3) in both the first and second rounds while sinking 10 birdies on the day and currently sits tied for seventh on the player leaderboard.
  • Xuan Luo shot a first-round 66 (-5) and a second-round 71 (E) for a two-round total score of 137 (-5).
  • Luo made five birdies on the back nine in the first round.
  • Avinash Iyer finished day one with a combined score of 138 (-2) after shooting a 69 in both rounds. 
  • Zubair Firdaus shot a two-round score of 144 (+2) on day one.
  • Ivan Barahona finished the day with a score of 145 (+3).
