Iyer Leads Spartans on Final Day of Palouse Collegiate

PULLMAN, Wash. Avinash Iyer shot a 69 (-2) in his third round to lead San José State men’s golf on the second and final day of the Palouse Collegiate at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash. on Wednesday.

  • The Spartans shot 284 (E) as a team in the third and final round, bringing their three-round total score to 836 (-16) and a seventh-place finish out of the 15 teams.
  • Iyer shot 69 in all three of his rounds of play over the last two days, had four birdies in his final round, and would finish his play with a total score of 207(-6). Iyer finished in 20th on the leaderboard.
  • Keshav Mungali birdied three of his last five holes on the back nine to finish his third round with 70 (-1) to give him a three-round total of 206 (-7) and a 15th-place finish on the leaderboard.
  • Xuan Luo shot a 75 (+4) in his third round and finished with a total 54-hole score of 212 (-1).
  • Zubair Firdaus shot a final round 72 (+1) to finish with a total score of 216 (+3) in three rounds.
  • Ivan Barahona had a third-round score of 73 (+2) to finish at 218 (+5) for his 54-hole total. 

UP NEXT: The Spartans will return home to rest and prepare before they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., for the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by Air Force on Sept. 21-23.
