SAN DIEGO – Cheuk Ying Shek dominates day one of the USTA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships, winning both her doubles match with Carla Urchoeguia and defeating No. 2 seed Sara Svetac, 7-5, 6-4, from Arizona State in her singles match.
- Ying Shek and Urchoeguia started their day strong, winning their doubles match with a score of 7-6 (11-9) and they saved six match points
- Duru Durgun and her partner Olaya Bances Iglesias fell short in their doubles match, 6-2
- Durgun came back with a victory in her singles match, scoring 6-1, 6-2 against Dylan Lolofie from the University of Utah
- Urchoeguia came up short in her singles match against Emma Valletta 6-1, 6-4
- Bances Iglesias came in under against Emma Kamper in her singles match 6-2, 6-2
UP NEXT: Ying Shek and Durgun will resume tomorrow in their respective singles matches, while Ying Shek and Urchoeguia will continue in doubles in the second day of the USTA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships.
