Baptista and Tortell Daly Lead as Spartans Win Against Sacramento State

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Diogo Baptista scored the game-deciding goal and was assisted by Jordi Tortell Daly to lead the San José State men's soccer team (1-1-1) as they got their first win of the season in a 2-1 victory against Sacramento State (0-3-0) on Sunday evening at Spartan Soccer Complex.

  • Baptista’s goal was his second of the season and the UC Riverside transfer’s second career goal at SJSU.
  • Baptista put up two points for the Spartans in this game.
  • In addition to assisting Baptista’s game-winning goal, the freshman Tortell Daly scored his first goal of the season and the first goal of his SJSU career. 
  • Tortell Daly also had three points on the night.  
  • Gilberto Rivera notched his first assist of the season, assisting Tortell Daly on his goal. 
  • Angel Iniguez took five shots in this game, with four on target.  
  • Edgar Guerra had two saves on the day.
  • Ruben Flores-Thomas, Niklas Dossmann, Javier Lopez, Rivera, Baptista, and Iniguez played the full 90 minutes in this match.
