SAN DIEGO – Olaya Bances Iglesias was able to secure a singles win on the second day of the USTA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships against Hiba Heni from Brigham Young University 6-2, 7-5.
- Cheuk Ying Shek and her doubles partner Carla Urcheoguia were bested by Emma Kamper and Sara Akid from the University of Utah, 6-4
- Following her doubles match, Ying Shek came up short in her singles match, losing 7-5, 6-3 against Jo-Yee Chan from San Diego State University
- Duru Durgun also competed in her singles match against Karstn Evans from Arizona State University, falling short 7-5, 6-2
- Carla Urchoeguia dropped her singles match against Liisa Varul from San Diego State 6-7, 6-1, (7-2)
UP NEXT: The Spartans will continue play day three of the USTA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships, with a pair of doubles matches and four singles consolation matches on Saturday.
