BERKELEY, CALIF. – Cheuk Ying Shek and Carla Urchoeguia secured a win in doubles in the main draws to lead San José State on the second day of the ITA Northwest Regional.
- Ying Shek and Urchoeguia defeated their opponents, Claire Galerkin and Kaia Wolfe from UC Davis 8-4.
- Emma Fantousis won in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 against Nahreen Cheam from Pacific in the singles consolation round of 32 qualifying draws.
- Olaya Bances Iglesias and Nahjime Dho fell short against Makenna Thiel and Berta Passola Folch from Cal 4-8.
- Duru Durgun and Fantusis were bested by Maxine Murphy and Eva Alvarez Sande from Washington State 3-8.
- Urchoeguia lost her singles match against Reece Carter from Washington, 1-6, 0-6.
- Bances Iglesias dropped her singles match against Sally Pethybridge from Portland 1-6, 2-6.
- Ying Shek was outmatched by Hania Abouelsaad from Washington State 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 4-6.
- Durgun came up short against Madelyn Ferreros from Sacramento State 1-6, 2-6.
UP NEXT: Ying Shek and Urchoeguia will continue their doubles play in the main draw, while the Spartans will compete in the singles consolation matches tomorrow for the third day of the ITA Northwest Regional.
