Firdaus Set to Represent Country at The Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship

GOTEMBA, Japan – San José State senior Zubair Firdaus and alumnus Carl Corpus will compete for their countries in the 2024 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship on Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 3-6, at Taiheiyo Club Gotemba in Gotemba, Japan.

  • Firdaus will represent Malaysia and Corpus will represent the Philippines in the annual amateur championship tournament. 
  • Invitations for the championship are sent out based on the leading players from the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) member organizations and their World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
  • The tournament will be four rounds of individual stroke play with a cut after the first 36 holes.
  • The tournament champion will receive an invitation to compete in the 2025 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club and an exemption into The 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will head up the road to compete in the Alister Mackenzie Invitational hosted by California on Oct. 7-8 in Fairfax, Calif. at the Meadow Club.
