FORT COLLINS, Colo.—The San José State volleyball team’s nine-match winning streak came to an end Thursday night as the Spartans were swept at Colorado State 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-20) inside Moby Arena.
- The Spartans had the best start to a season at 9-0 since the 1988 team started 11-0.
- Blaire Fleming led all hitters with 14 kills and nearly had a double-double with a team-best nine digs.
- Brooke Bryant added eight kills and five digs for SJSU.
- Four Spartans recorded two blocks in the match – Fleming, Bryant, Emma Testi and Jade Epps.
- Brooke Slusser added 23 assists, six digs and a kill.
- Testi and Naima Foster added four kills each.
- Randilyn Reeves added seven digs and two assists, while Laurel Barsocchini had three digs and an assist.
- Alessia Buffagni and Testi had the only aces for the Spartans.
- The Spartans used a 7-1 run in the second set to take a 9-4 lead.
UP NEXT – The Spartans return home for matches against San Diego State on Thursday the 10th at 7 p.m., and versus UNLV on Saturday the 12th at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at Spartan Gym inside the YUH Complex, on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets. Admission is free to all matches.
