SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Sydni Summers, along with Finau Tonga, both scored in double digits to lead the San José State women’s basketball (2-2, 0-0 MW) in a 86-76 loss against UC Santa Barbara (2-2, 0-0 Big West) on Sunday afternoon at The Thunderdome.
- Sydni Summers would finish with a season-high 17 points and one assist on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, as well as going 5-for-7 from behind the arc.
- Summers sunk three three-pointers in the game's final minute and accounted for 14 points of the Spartans scoring in the final three minutes.
- Summers’ five made three-pointers set a new career high for the sophomore.
- Tonga finished with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field with three rebounds and one assist.
- Tonga currently leads the team, averaging 14.5 points per game, and has put up double-digit scoring numbers in all four games so far this season.
- Djessira Diawara scored 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field with five rebounds.
- Diawara has now scored in the double digits in back-to-back games
- Amira Brown led the team with six rebounds to go with her five points and one assist in this game.
- Brown is currently second on the team, averaging 5.8 rebounds per game.
- Amiah Simmons finished with seven points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field and 1-for-3 from behind the arc.
- The Spartans outshot the Gauchos from the field 50% to 49% and outrebounded them 29-27 in this game.
- Once again the bench was a big contributor scoring 33 points for the Spartans.
