HENDERSON, Nev. - Will McClendon scored a career-high 22 points to lead the San José State (2-5, 0-0 MW) men's basketball team in a 71-65 victory over UTEP (3-2, 0-0 CUSA) at Lee’s Family Forum in the first game of the Ball Dawgs Classic.
- McClendon also went 5-8 from three, setting a new career high in three pointers made.
- McClendon has knocked down nine three’s in his last two games.
- McClendon also recorded three assists, two rebounds and a steal in the game.
- Josh Uduje led the team with 23 points, marking the third game in a row he scored more than 20 points.
- Uduje has scored 70 points over his last three games.
- Uduje also tallied four boards, two blocks and a steal.
- Donavan Yap dished out a career high seven assists. He also scored eight points with all of his points coming from the foul line.
- Latrell Davis recorded a career-high nine rebounds.
- Robert Vaihola tallied seven points, six rebounds and a block in the game.
- Sadraque NgaNga scored seven points and hit a three off the bench.
- Sadaidriene Hall earned his first start of the season.
- The Spartans outrebounded UTEP 35-21 and held the Miners to 41 percent from the field.
- The Spartans defeated UTEP for the first time since March 6, 2003, when they defeated the Miners 74-73 in overtime.
