HENDERSON, Nev. - Donavan Yap scored 18 points and dished out four assists to lead the San José State (4-5, 0-0 MW) men's basketball team in a 82-66 victory over Long Beach State (1-8, 0-0 Big West) at Lee’s Family Forum in the final game of the Ball Dawgs Classic.
- The last time the Spartans swept an in-season tournament was at the 2011 Elgin Baylor Classic where they went 2-0 with wins over Coppin State and Seattle.
- Yap’s 18 points was a season-high and it was his third time scoring in double figures this year.
- Yap hit back-to-back-to-back three pointers in the second half, igniting a 17-2 Spartan run.
- Josh Uduje recorded 17 points, three rebounds, a block and a steal in the game.
- Robert Vaihola scored 14 points on 5-6 shooting from the field.
- Vaihola also led the team with six boards and rejected three shots which tied his career-high.
- Latrell Davis scored 11 points off the bench.
- This marked the first time this season the Spartans had four players score 10 or more points in a game.
- Will McClendon tallied eight points, five rebounds and five assists in the game. His five assists tied his career-high which he set in the Spartans’ previous game against UNCG.
- Sadraque NgaNga continued his impressive efficiency, recording eight points and five rebounds in 13 minutes of action.
- Over the last three games, NgaNga has recorded 27 points and 10 rebounds in 43 minutes of game time.
- Sadaidriene Hall recorded four points and five rebounds in the game. The Spartans are 3-0 since Hall was moved into the starting lineup.
- The Spartans held The Beach to 44 percent shooting and outrebounded them 34-30.
