Shorten & Lindberg Winners at UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif.—Ellie Shorten and Vilma Lindberg won individual races for the San José State women’s swimming team on Friday in a dual meet hosted by UC Davis.

  • Shorten won the 200 backstroke in 2:04.40, and finished second in the 100 backstroke at 57.34.
  • Lindberg won the 200 breaststroke with a season-best 2:18.26. She also finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a season-best 1:03.87.
  • Shorten and Lindberg also swam the first two legs of the 200 medley relay team who started the meet winning with a time of 1:43.98.
  • Jenna Jagielski made her season debut, competing on the 1-meter dive, finishing third with 239.85 points.
  • Lais Gasparini e Silva finished second in the 50 free at 23.81, and swam the anchor leg of the winning 200 medley relay team.
  • Hailey Grotte finished second in the 100 free, swimming the third-best Spartan time of the year at 52.74.
  • The Spartans fell to UC Davis, 208-84.
