SAN DIEGO, Calif.—Brooke Bryant and Jade Epps led the Spartan blocking attack on Saturday as the San José State volleyball team fell at San Diego State, 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19) inside Peterson Gym.
- Bryant and Epps recorded five blocks each in the match, each with one solo and four block assists.
- Bryant recorded five or more block assists in her fifth match this season, while this was the fourth time Epps had five or more blocks.
- Blaire Fleming led all hitters with 15 kills in the match.
- Brooke Slusser nearly had her seventh double-double of the season with 27 assists and nine digs.
- Randilyn Reeves led the team with 13 digs.
- The Spartans had seven service aces in the match, led by Nayeli Ti’a who had a team-best three.
- Ti’a added nine kills, eight digs and two blocks for the Spartans.
- Announced after the match, the Spartans have clinched a spot in the 2024 Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas, November 27-30, inside the COX Pavilion.
UP NEXT—The Spartans return home for the final two MW matches of the year. The team hosts Colorado State next Saturday the 16th beginning at 11 a.m., with Senior Day festivities to be held before the match. SJSU hosts the final Tuesday night Block Party on November 19th against Fresno State beginning at 7 p.m. Both matches will be played at Spartan Gym inside the YUH Complex on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets. Admission is free to both matches.
