LAS VEGAS, Nev.—After 10 days between matches, the San José State volleyball team got double-digit kill efforts from Blaire Fleming and Nayeli Ti’a as the Spartans fell in the championship match of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship match, 27-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-16, Saturday afternoon inside the Cox Pavilion.
- Fleming led SJSU with 17 kills and added three digs.
- Ti’a added 12 kills, nine digs, two aces and two blocks.
- Jade Epps hit .389 for the match with eight kills on 18 attempts and only one error.
- Alessia Buffagni recorded a team-best 17 digs.
- For their performances, Epps and Buffagni were named the Mountain West All-Tournament Team.
- Emma Testi led the team in blocks with three, while Brooke Bryant, Ti’a and Epps had two.
- San José State had not played a match since November 19 when the team fell at home in five sets to Fresno State.
- The Spartans never gave up in the match, leading in each set and forcing four set points in the first set.
- The Spartans made the championship match at the Mountain West Tournament for the second time in three seasons.
- San José State ends the season with a 14-7 overall record.
