Spartans to Host No. 25 Utah State on Mountain West Network

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State men’s basketball will host No. 25 Utah State at the Provident Credit Union Event Center on Tuesday at 7 p.m. PT on Mountain West Network and KTRB 860 AM.

  • The Spartans are coming off a 79-73 road loss to UNLV.
  • The Spartans are 0-4 in conference play, but have lost three of the four games by six points or less.
  • Utah State is ranked No. 25. The Spartans are 23-70 all time against the Aggies and 1-9 in their last ten meetups. 
  • The Spartans have not beaten a ranked opponent since defeating No. 19 Alabama on Dec. 27, 1996, in a 60-59 overtime victory at the Comerica Cable Car Classic. 
  • The Spartans are averaging the fewest turnovers per game in the Mountain West (10.0).

  • Uduje has recorded double digit points in 13 out of 16 games this season. He has also scored 20+ eight times this year which is the most in the Mountain West.
  • Uduje became the first Spartan to score 20+ in five consecutive games since Adrian Oliver in 2011 (12/4 - 12/28/24).
  • Uduje has led the Spartans in scoring in 10 of 16 games on the season. 
  • Uduje went 5-5 from three and scored a season-high 25 points at USC (11/20/24). Uduje is the only player in the Mountain West to make five three's on 100 percent 3pt. shooting in a game this season.
  • Uduje is second in the conference in field goal percentage at .530 (105-198 & min. 5 FGM/G average). Utah State's Mason Falslev leads the Mountain West, shooting .536.
  • Uduje's free throw percentage of .855 is good for third in the Mountain West (min. 2.5 FTM/G average). McClendon is fifth at .840. 
  • Hall recorded a career-high 33 points and 14 made field goals in the Spartans' overtime win vs. Cal Poly (12/14/24). He also notched 11 rebounds, giving him his first double-double of the year.
  • Hall is one of two players in the Mountain West to hit 14 field goals in a game this season (Donovan Dent, New Mexico).
  • Hall has 15 steals on the season which leads the team.
  • The Spartans’ have recorded seven double-doubles on the season (two by Vaihola, two by Hall, two by NgaNga and one by Uduje).
  • McClendon is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game. He has scored double-figures in 11 out of 15 games played this season.
  • McClendon leads the Spartans with 26 made threes on the season.
  • Robert Vaihola’s 18 rebounds against Lincoln (12/9/24) is the most recorded in a game by any player in the Mountain West this season. Vaihola is also the first Spartan to grab 18 rebounds in a game since Chris Cunningham on Feb. 2, 2013 against Idaho.
  • Vaihola leads the team in rebounding with 7.0 boards per game which is also good for fifth in the conference.
  • Vaihola is also fourth in the conference with 1.5 blocks per game.
  • Yap leads the Spartans with 2.9 assists per game. 
  • Sadraque NgaNga recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds at. UNLV (1/4/25), earning his second double-double of the season. He only played 18 minutes in the game.
  • Latrell Davis scored a career-high 21 off the bench in the Spartans' overtime victory vs. Cal Poly (12/14/24). Davis
    followed his performance up with 20 points off the bench vs. Kennesaw State (12/21/24).
  • Davis hit a shot from half court at the first half buzzer vs. Kennesaw State, earning the No. 10 play of the night on ESPN (12/21/24).
  • Steven Vasquez and Pasha Goodarzi have played crucial roles off the bench. Vasquez has a +/- of +46 and Goodarzi has a +/- of +29 on the season.
