Spartans Roll Past Ragin' Cajuns in Second Game of Series

LAFAYETTE, La. - Alex Fernandes went 3-4 and scored four runs to lead the San José State baseball team (1-1, 0-0 MW) in a 8-3 victory over Louisiana (1-1, 0-0 SBC) in the second game of the series at Russo Park. 

  • Fernandes is currently batting .800 on the season
  • Jeriah Lewis and Rocco Caballero each tallied two RBIs in the game. Caballero also hit a double which was the lone Spartan extra base hit in the game.
  • David Thomas started on the mound for just the second time in his career. Thomas pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs.
  • EJ Mcgrew captured the win, pitching three innings while only allowing two hits and no runs.
  • Tyler Albanese threw four strikeouts in two innings pitched.
  • JC Osorio-Agard recorded a run and an RBI.
  • Zach Chamizo and Raoul Fabian Jr. both also notched an RBI.
  • Drew Giannini and Jake Maroney both scored a run in the game.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will rematch Louisiana on Sunday at 9 a.m. PT for the final game of the three game series.
