SAN JOSE, Calif. – Sarah Deplitch hit her first career home run while Aubrie Thomas and Jules Ronquillo each had two hits to lead San José State softball (5-5, 0-0 MW) in an 8-1 win against UC San Diego (2-7, 0-0 Big West) on the final day of the Silicon Valley Classic I from Spartan Softball Complex on Sunday.
SJSU swept all five games this weekend in the Silicon Valley Classic I, with the bats coming alive at home as the Spartans racked up 47 hits and put up a scoring differential of 36-7 against their opponents. This is the second year in a row that the Spartans have swept through the Silicon Valley Classic I tournament.
- Deplitch finished the day going 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
- Deplitch’s home run is the first of her career and she also set career highs in RBIs and runs scored.
- Thomas finished 2-for-4 with two singles and one run scored.
- Thomas tied her season high with two hits.
- Ronquillo ended the day going 2-for-2 with two singles, two RBIs, and one run scored
- Ronquillo set new season highs in hits and RBIs.
- Ahmiya Noriega went 1-for-3 with an RBI triple and one run scored. This is the fourth straight game she has a three-bagger.
- Noriega’s triple is her fourth of the season and 12th of her career.
- Aneesa Almaguer went 1-for-1 with a clutch pinch hit 2-RBI double.
- Taylor Chillingworth went 1-for-3 with a single, and one run scored.
- Taylor Peacock got the start in the circle going 4.2 innings with only one earned run and giving up five hits.
- This was Peacock’s first start of her career.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will travel to Cathedral City, Calif., next weekend to participate in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Feb. 21-23.
