SAN JOSE, Calif.– Cheuk Ying Shek and Soledad Fayos Capilla both won in their respective doubles and singles matches to lead San José State (5-1, 0-0 MW) in a 4-0 win against Saint Mary’s (2-4, 0-0 WCC) on Thursday afternoon from the Spartan Tennis Complex.
- The Spartans gained the doubles point and went on to gain three points from singles matches
- Ying Shek and Carla Urchoeguia quickly won in their doubles match, 6-1
- Olaya Bances Iglesias and Fayos Capilla, playing for the first time as a pair, came back in their doubles match, 6-4
- Ying Shek wrapped up her singles match and won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4
- Fayos Capilla bested her opponent on court six, 6-2, 6-2
- Ying Shek and Fayos Capilla are both undefeated in dual singles matches this season
- Ying Shek (5-0) and Fayos Capilla (4-0) remain undefeated in singles matches
- Duru Durgun earned the clinching point for the Spartans, 7-5, 6-1
- The Spartans are 3-0 at home this season
