SAN JOSE, Calif. - AJ Campos, Zane Carter, Charles Cox, Jahari Johnson, Simeon Maiava, Runye Norton, Malachi Riley, Danny Scudero, Leland Smith, Marzeal Smith, Blake Tabaracci, Vili Taufatofua, and Cayden Woolwine have all transferred to San José State football for the 2025 season.
Three come from "power four" programs, eight are from California, and seven have either previously played at the FBS or FCS level.
In December, 12 high school student-athletes were signed on Early National Signing Day.
The Spartans have 95 players on the roster for the spring season, with 77 players returning as they look for their fourth bowl game in a row and fifth bowl game in the last six seasons.

Zane Carter, Jr., LB, Ventura, Calif./Buena HS/Ventura College
- Had 88 tackles with five interceptions and one pick-six with one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 2024 at Ventura College
- Named an All-American, All-State and All-Conference in 2024
- Had an 80-yard pick-six and 11 tackles vs. Saddleback (9/7/24)
Charles Cox, Jr., DB, Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley Charter HS/Diablo Valley College
- Played in 10 games and had 37 tackles, one sack, 6.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and an interception for Diablo Valley College in 2024
- Ray-6 All-Conference First Team (2024)
- Had five games of five tackles or more in 2024
Jahari Johnson, Jr., WR, Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS/Shasta College
- Named All-Conference, All-State, All-Region and All-American (2023, 24)
- Played in 19 games over two seasons and had 134 catches for 1,978 yards and 19 touchdowns at Shasta College
- Also rushed for three touchdowns and 89 yards on 16 carries at Shasta College
Simeon Maiava, Jr., OL, Moreno Valley, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS/Riverside City College
- Played in five games in 2024
- Won the junior college national championship in 2024
- Three-star high school recruit according to 247Sports
Runye Norton, Jr., DB, Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood HS/El Camino College
- Finished season with 18 tackles and one interception in nine games played at El Camino College
- Added five pass breakups in 2024
- Had an interception at Canyons (10/17/24)
Malachi Riley, So-R., WR, Moreno Valley, Calif./Centennial HS/Arizona
- Had five catches for 97 yards including one rush for 15 yards in 14 games over two seasons at Arizona
- Averaged 7.0 yards per catch at Arizona
- Three-star high school recruit according to 247Sports
Danny Scudero, So-R., WR, San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty HS/Sac State
- Played in 11 of Sac State's 12 games in 2024, starting four
- Ranked third on the team with 53 receptions for 667 yards and five touchdowns in 2024

Vili Taufatofua, Jr-R., DL, Auckland, New Zealand/Mount Roskill Grammar School/New Mexico Military Institute/Utah
- Played one game over two seasons at Utah
- Made 81 tackles (21.5 TFL, 15.5 sacks) and forced three fumbles, along with earning one fumble recovery and a blocked kick in 2022 at the New Mexico Military Institute
- Was tied for the NJCAA Division I lead with 15.5 sacks and ranked third with 21.5 Tackles for loss in 2022
