DAVIS, Calif. – Shay McDowell had a perfect day at the plate in game one going three-for-three with a triple to lead San José State softball (0-3, 0-0 MW) in a 3-1 game one loss against Idaho State (3-1, 0-0 Big West) and a 3-0 loss against UC Davis (2-0, 0-0 Big West) in game two on the third day of the round-robin style Norcal Kickoff tournament hosted by UC Davis and Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon from La Rue Field.
Game One vs. Idaho State
- McDowell was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI
- McDowell’s triple is the second of her career.
- Aubrie Thomas went 2-for-3 with a single, a double and one run scored.
- Thomas hit four doubles last season.
- In her collegiate debut, making her first career start, Sarah Deplitch finished 1-for-3 with a double.
- Deplitch’s double is the first hit of her career.
- Lacie Ham got the start in the circle going five innings while giving up only three hits.
- Ham was second in the clubhouse with 88.2 IP last season.
- Ava Conti made an appearance in relief going two innings.
Game Two vs. UC Davis
- Mia Reynolds got the start in the circle going 5.1 innings with three strikeouts while only giving up three hits.
- Reynolds has rang up 10 strikeouts through two games so far this season.
- Bella Rodriguez made her collegiate debut in relief and also rang up her first career strikeout.
- Aubrie Thomas finished 1-for-3 with a single.
- Haley Reeve went 1-for-2 with a single.
