ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Ethan Fong, Simone Johnson, and Katharina Graman all earned medals in the long jump, while Sky Hagan, Alyssa Bean, and Christopher Malone all set new school all-time indoor records, leading San José State Track & Field on the second day of competition at the 2025 Mountain West Track and Field Indoor Championships on Friday from Albuquerque Convention Center.
- SJSU took three medals on the second day of competition, two silvers, and one bronze across both men’s and women’s long jump events.
- The Spartans set three new school indoor records in women’s 60m (7.39), 200m (23.55), and men’s 800m (1:52.78)
- Fong, competing in the Men’s Long Jump, earned the silver medal and first medal for the Spartans with a personal best mark of 7.18m (23’ 6¾”).
- Johnson competing in the Women’s Long Jump earned the silver medal with a personal best mark of 6.35m (20’ 10”).
- Johnson's Mountain West indoor silver medal is the third of her career, she won back-to-back silvers in triple jump with San Diego State back in 2021 and 2022.
- Graman also competing in the Women’s Long Jump, earned the bronze medal with a season-best mark of 6.27m (20’ 7”).
- Eve Divinity competing in the Women’s Long Jump, finished just off the podium in fourth place with a mark of 6.26m (20' 6½”).
- The Spartans had three out of the top four finishers in the women’s long jump event.
- Bean competing in the Women’s 400m earned a qualification for tomorrow’s final with a time of 53.64.
- Bean also competing in the Women’s 200m Dash, earned her second final qualification, finishing with a lifetime best time of 23.55.
- Bean’s time set a new SJSU all-time indoor record for the women’s 200m.
- Hagan running in the Women’s 60m Dash got the big Q for tomorrow’s final with a personal best time of 7.39.
- Hagan’s time set a new SJSU all-time indoor record for the Women’s 60m Dash.
- Malone, competing in the men’s 800m set a new SJSU all-time indoor record with a personal best time of 1:52.78.
- This is Malone’s second straight race setting a new personal best and all-time indoor school record.
- Christopher Coats running in the Men’s 400m qualified for tomorrow’s final with a time of 47.71.
- Coats won the silver medal in the 400m at last year's Mountain West indoor championships.
- Coats also running in the Men’s 200m earned the q for tomorrow’s final, his second of the day with a time of 20.92.
- Coats is the defending Mountain West indoor champion in the 200m
- Cameron Tarver also running in the Men’s 200m qualified for Saturday’s final with a time of 21.09.
- Tarver won the silver medal in the 200m at last year's Mountain West indoor championships.
- Kendall McCoy, competing in the Women’s 60m Hurdles qualified for tomorrow’s final with a time of 8.73 seconds.
- Nakai Johnson running in the Women’s 60m Dash as well as the Women’s 200m Dash, set two new personal bests with a 7.54 in the 60m and a 25.06 in the 200m.
- Myles McFarland running in the Men’s 60m Hurdles got the big Q to move on to tomorrow’s final with a personal best time of 8.07.
- Zion Shelton also running in the Men’s 60m Hurdles for the qualification for tomorrow’s final with a personal best time of 8.26.
- Alexander Walker competing in the Men’s Mile finished with a personal best time of 4:20.49 PB
