STOCKTON, Calif. – Reina Zermeno hit two home runs in two games and Aubrie Thomas also hit a home run while Mia Reynolds threw a complete game shutout to lead San José State softball (9-11, 0-0 MW) in a 7-5 game one loss against Pacific (8-8, 0-0 WCC) and a 3-0 win in game two against UC Riverside (9-12, 0-0 Big West) on the third and final day of the Libby Matson Tournament from Bill Simoni Field on Sunday.

Game One vs. Pacific

  • Zermeno finished 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, two singles, two RBIs and one run scored.
  • Zermeno’s home run is her second of the season and the 12th of her career.
  • Four hits set a new season high for Zermeno and tied her career high.
  • The last time Zermeno had a 4-for-4 day at the plate was during the 2023 season against New Mexico.    
  • Taylor Chillingworth finished 1-for-3 with a 2-RBI double. 
  • Chillingworth’s double is her third of the season.
  • Chillingworth now has eight RBIs on the season and for her career. 
  • Thomas would go 1-for-3 with a single and a walk.
  • Thomas now leads the team with 10 walks so far this season.
  • Thomas has now reached base safely in three straight games. 
  • Jules Ronquillo went 1-for-3 with a single and a run scored.
  • Ronquillo has now had a hit in five straight games.
  • Ronquillo currently leads the team, hitting .462 on the season so far.
  • Ahmiya Noriega 1-for-4 single, RBI
  • Haley Reeve drew two walks and scored a run.

Game Two vs. UC Riverside

  • Zermeno finished with six hits on the day, going 2-for-3 in game two with a home run, a single, two RBIs, and a run scored.
  • She now has four home runs on the season and 13 for her career. 
  • Zermeno is now tied with Deplitch for the team lead in round-trippers this season. 
  • Zermeno now has four multi-RBI games this season.
  • Thomas finished game two 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an RBI, and a run scored. 
  • Thomas now has two home runs this season and seven for her career. 
  • Thomas has reached base safely in four straight games. 
  • Noriega went 1-for-3 with a single. 
  • Gigi Ortega went 1-for-2 with a single. 
  • Aneesa Almaguer drew a walk.
  • Ronquillo drew a walk and scored a run 
  • Reynolds got the start in the circle, throwing a complete game shutout, with only five hits and a season-high 11 strikeouts. 
  • Reynolds also set a new career high in strikeouts with 11
