Spartans Finish 5-1 at Southland Midseason Tournament

THIBODEAUX, La.—The San José State beach volleyball team finished a very successful weekend in Louisiana with a 5-1 record at the Southland Midseason Tournament hosted by Nichols State.

  • The Spartans swept New Orleans and Nicholls and went 4-1 against Stephen F. Austin and Southeastern Louisiana.
  • SJSU was swept by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, one of the favorites in the conference and receiving votes in the national poll.
  • Sabrina Moore and Kiara Edwards went 4-2 on the weekend as the team’s top pair.
  • Grace Baker and Addison DeMarse were 4-0 at the tournament, going 3-0 in the third position, and ended the weekend on a four-match winning streak.
  • Jada Hall and Randi Reeves were 4-1 in the second position.
  • Elon Milroy and Shirley Morrison were 3-2 on the weekend with a 2-1 record in the fourth position.
  • San José State is now 9-13 on the season and 6-2 in the Southland.
  • The team has won seven of its nine previous duals.

UP NEXT – The Spartans will take a small break before returning to the beach to play two duals at California on Friday, April 4, against Saint Mary’s at noon and California at 3 p.m.
