SAN JOSE, Calif. - Donavan Yap recorded a career-high 30 points and Robert Vaihola recorded a 13 points, 19 rebounds and three blocks to lead the San José State men’s basketball team (14-18, 7-13 MW) in a 92-68 victory over Fresno State (6-25, 2-18 MW) at Provident Credit Union Event Center.
- With the victory, the Spartans swept Fresno State for the first time since 2009.
- The 24 point margin of victory is also the largest margin of victory for the Spartans over the Bulldogs since Feb. 27, 2010 when they won by 27.
- Yap scored his 30 points on 11-for-14 shooting from the field and 5-for-7 shooting from three.
- Yap’s 11 made field goals was also a career-high.
- Yap also tallied four rebounds, three assists and two steals in the game.
- Vaihola earned his third double-double of the season, marking the tenth total double-double of the season for the Spartans.
- Vaihola’s 19 rebounds set a new career-high. His 19 rebounds is also the second most recorded in a game by any player in the Mountain West this season.
- Of Vaihola’s 19 rebounds, eight were offensive, tying his career-high. Vaihola came into the game averaging 2.4 offensive rebounds per game which ranks third best in the Mountain West.
- Vaihola is the first Spartan to record 19 rebounds since Wil Carter grabbed 20 rebounds against Hawai’i on Jan. 7, 2012.
- Vaihola’s 19 rebounds also tied a Provident Credit Union Event Center Record. Three other Spartans have recorded 19 rebounds at the PCUEC, including Marion Thurmond in 2001, Will Trawick in 1998 and Marmet Williams in 1997.
- Jermaine Washington scored 19 points, also setting a new career-high. Washington also went a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line.
- Josh Uduje notched 16 points. Uduje has scored in double-figures in 24 out of his 30 games played on the season.
- Latrell Davis tallied seven assists in the game.
- The Spartans outrebounded the Bulldogs 45-28.
- The Spartans celebrated four seniors, Uduje, Yap, Chol Marial and Sadaidriene Hall, for Senior Day.
