Spartans Turn in Strong Performance to Close Tom Jones Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Emilia Sjostrand and Simone Johnson grabbed first and second place in the Triple Jump Invite with Sjostrand's finish her second consecutive first place in as many days to lead San José State Track & Field on the second and final day of competition at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational hosted by Florida at Percy Beard Track in James G. Pressly Stadium, on Saturday.

Alyssa Bean led the way on the track with a second-place finish in the Women’s 400m, clocking in at a swift 53.62 seconds. In the Women's Triple Jump Invitational, Sjostrand soared to first place with a leap of 13.39m (43-11 ¼), closely followed by teammate Johnson, who took second with a mark of 13.14m (43-1 ½). Katharina Graman also put in a strong performance, finishing sixth at 12.69m (41-7 ¾).

The women's 4x100m relay team—featuring Bean, Eve Divinity, Sharli’e McCuller, and Nakai Johnson—clocked a season-best 44.88 seconds, signaling serious momentum heading into the championship season. The men's 4x100m squad of Cameron Tarver, Nathaniel Guillory, Aiden Stalnecker, and Christopher Coats matched the energy with a season-best 40.12 seconds.

Ethan Fong turned in a top-10 finish in the Men’s Triple Jump with 14.55m (47-9) to take sixth place, while Sky Hagan advanced to the finals of the Women’s 100m Hurdles after posting the ninth fastest time overall at 13.34 seconds.
