Spartans Earn Multiple First Place Finishes at Day Two of Stanford and Brutus Hamilton Invites

STANFORD, Calif. - BERKELEY, Calif. –  Emilia Sjostrand placed first at the women’s triple jump and Alyssa Bean earned two first place finishes in the 400m dash and 200m dash to lead San José State Track & Field who split the squad for this weekend, competing in both the Stanford Invitational and the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on Saturday.

The Spartans showcased impressive depth and speed, with multiple athletes posting personal bests and top finishes against elite competition.

Brutus Hamilton Invitational Highlights

  • Amanda Chalburg placed sixth in the women’s one mile with a time of 5:12.35 while Grace Scott placed sixth with a time of 5:12.60
  • Kendall McCoy placed sixth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.38
  • Coats placed second in the men’s 400m dash with a time of 47.16
  • Divinity finished third in the women’s 100m dash with a time of 12.01
  • Tarver placed third in the men’s 100m dash with a time of 10.53
  • Christopher Malone finished fifth in the men’s 800m run with a time of 1:51.84
  • Savana Dutton captured fourth in the women’s 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.72
  • Marcell Bovell placed sixth in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 55.64
  • Lina Schubert placed second in the women’s high jump a leap of 1.73m
  • Deshawn Banks finished third in the men’s high jump with a leap of 2.08m

 

Stanford Invitational Highlights

  • Sjostrand placed first at the women’s triple jump with a leap of 13.73m. Simone Johnson placed second in the event with a leap of 13.47m and Katharina Graman placed fifth with a leap of 12.91m.
  • Jodeci Weems placed first at the women’s triple jump with a leap of 11.97m, a new personal best. Camryn Clark finished fourth in the event with a leap of 11.67m.
  • Ethan Fong placed first at the men’s triple jump with a leap of 15.52m 

UP NEXT: The Spartans will travel to Gainesville, Fla. to compete in the Tom Jones Memorial from April 18-19.
