BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—Rose Jensen scored four times, and Darcy Spark scored the game-winning goal with 1:53 left in the match as the 15th-ranked San José State women’s water polo team won 10-8 at No. 10 Indiana in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Saturday.
- SJSU upset a top-10 opponent for the second consecutive Saturday on the road after a 13-12 win at then-No. 7 Arizona State last week.
- Jensen scored four goals for the second consecutive match to lead the Spartans
- Spark finished the match with two goals, bringing her season total to 67, moving her into 10th place on the SJSU single season goal scoring list.
- Spark also moved past Spartan head coach Beth Harberts on the SJSU career goal-scoring list. Spark now has 113 goals scored in her two seasons, tying with Christine Welsh for 19th on the list.
- Bridget Cranley, the reigning MPSF Newcomer of the Week, started the scoring in the match with a goal at 5:10 of the first quarter for a 1-0 SJSU lead.
- Mackenzy Clark and Jensen scored back-to-back goals in the second quarter to tie the match at 3-3 before the Hoosier scored twice to lead 5-3 at halftime.
- San José State trailed 6-3 before Jensen scored twice to make it 6-5, and Renee Fleming scored with 33 seconds left in the quarter to make it 7-6 Indiana.
- Clark scored her second goal of the match to tie the score at 7-7 with 5:21 remaining in the fourth quarter.
- Spark then scored back-to-back goals, one natural and a penalty shot, to give the Spartans a 9-7 lead with 1:53 left in the match.
- The Hoosier got within a goal at 9-8 with 1:29 left in the match
- The Spartans are now 13-10 on the season and 2-3 in MPSF play.
