Lopez Ortega MW Golfer of the Year, Andersson All-MW Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—San José State women’s golfer Lucia Lopez Ortega etched herself into the record book as she has been named the 2024-25 Mountain West Women’s Golfer of the Year.

Lopez is the fifth Spartan to receive this recognition and is the sixth time in seven years a Spartan has been honored.

Two Spartans received first team All-MW honors. Lopez Ortega was honored on the first team for the fourth time in her collegiate career, while Moa Andersson received her first all-conference honor.

Lucia Lopez Ortega – MW Golfer of the Year, First Team All-MW, Sr., Sa Coma, Mallorca, Spain

  • 2025 Mountain West Individual Champion
  • Four-time first team All-Mountain West honoree
  • 72.29 stroke average on the year
  • 10 rounds of par or better including 6 rounds in the 60s
  • Shot a 5-under 211 to win the conference individual title (69-73-69)
  • Ranked 74th in the collegiate rankings and 93rd on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR)
  • Shot a 6-under, 67 in the first round of the Nanea Invitational where she tied for 12th
  • Tied for sixth at the Silverado Showdown at 3-under, 213
  • Tied for eighth at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge

 

Moa Andersson – First Team All-MW, So., Staffanstrorp, Sweden

  • 73.46 stroke average in 28 rounds played
  • Finished seventh at the Mountain West Championship
  • Eight rounds of par or better
  • Two rounds in the 60s
  • Three top-10 finishes
  • Ninth at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational where she shot a 5-under 67 in the first round
  • Shot a 68 in the first round of the Alice & John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic

UP NEXT – San José State plays at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional, May 5-7, at the Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club. Admission is free to the regional.
