CLOVIS, Calif. – Emilia Sjostrand won gold in the Women’s Triple Jump on her way to being selected as the Women’s Field Performer of the Meet, while Cameron Tarver and Christopher Coats also won gold medals to lead San José State Track & Field on the third and final day of competition at the Credit Union 1 2025 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Championship Saturday.
The Spartans ended the 2025 Mountain West Outdoor Championships with 13 total medals — 4 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze — matching their medal haul from the 2024 championships. In total, the Spartans accumulated 75.50 points in the men's standings for a fifth-place finish and 79 points in the women's standings for another fifth-place finish for a combined team total of 154.5 points.
Leading the way was senior standout Emilia Sjostrand, who delivered a gold-medal performance in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 13.78m (45' 2½”). Her dominant effort today combined with her silver medal finish in the Long Jump yesterday, earned her the prestigious honor of Women’s Field Performer of the Meet, capping a legendary collegiate career that includes 11 individual Mountain West titles, 13 individual medals, 2 school records, and a 4x100m Relay medal.
On the men’s side, Cameron Tarver and Christopher Coats both struck gold in sprint events. Tarver claimed victory in the 200m dash with a personal-best time of 20.54 seconds, marking his third consecutive outdoor season medaling in the event. He also tied his personal best in the 100m dash, placing fourth at 10.37 seconds.
Coats shined in the 400m final, capturing his first outdoor conference title with a time of 47.22 seconds. He also added a bronze medal in the 200m (20.79), bringing his career total to four conference outdoor medals.
Additional Spartan medalists on the final day included:
- Simone Johnson won bronze in the Women’s Triple Jump with a mark of 13.15m (43’ 1¾”), her third career Mountain West outdoor medal in the event.
- Lina Schubert won silver in Women’s High Jump with a clearance of 1.75m (5’ 8¾”), earning her second career outdoor championship medal.
- The Women’s 4x100m Relay squad of Alyssa Bean, Eve Divinity, Sharli’e McCuller, Emilia Sjostrand, and Nakai Johnson won silver with a time of 44.91, showcasing teamwork and baton precision.
- Sky Hagan won bronze in the Women’s 100m Hurdles (13.47), her second straight year medaling in the event.
- Otto Laing won silver in Men’s 110m Hurdles (14.00), the first Mountain West medal of his career.
Also of note, several Spartans delivered strong performances just outside of the podium:
- Sharli’e McCuller finished 6th in the women’s 100m dash (11.66), a season-best.
- Alyssa Bean ran a personal-best 23.36 to place 5th in the women’s 200m dash, she ran in four races on the meet’s final day.
- Cameron Tarver’s fourth-place 100m dash time (10.37) tied his personal best, showing promise heading into NCAA national competition.
