SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State football fans will hear a familiar and a fresh voice this season as veteran broadcaster Kevin Richardson and former Spartan linebacker Jordan Cobbs team up to call the 2025 campaign on the Spartan Media Network, airing on 860 AM KTRB.

This marks the fourth straight year that 860 AM KTRB will serve as the flagship station for Spartan Athletics. Richardson will handle play-by-play duties, while Cobbs makes his broadcast debut as the analyst.

Richardson, who began broadcasting SJSU football in 2008, has called 190 games for the program, including the Military Bowl, Cure Bowl, Arizona Bowl, Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, and two Hawai‘i Bowls. Before his broadcasting career, Richardson played linebacker at Stanford, where he tallied 289 career tackles and led the Cardinal in tackles in 1987.

“I am honored to begin my 18th season in the radio booth for the San José State Spartans,” said Richardson. “It is a privilege to welcome former Spartan linebacker Jordan Cobbs to the broadcast team. Jordan competed with great passion during his playing career, and I am confident he will bring that same dedication and energy to his role as a broadcaster for the San José State community.”

Cobbs joins the booth after a standout playing career with the Spartans from 2019–24. As a linebacker, he helped San José State to a Mountain West Championship and four bowl appearances.

"I have spent significant time at San José State, building lasting memories and achieving success as a Spartan,” said Cobbs. “I am honored to continue that tradition by officially joining the radio team. It is a privilege to remain connected to the Spartan community, and I look forward to experiencing the game from a new perspective. I am deeply grateful to SJSU for this opportunity.”

Game coverage begins 30 minutes before kickoff with a pregame show and concludes with a 30-minute postgame show with a live interview from head football coach Ken Niumatalolo. The Spartans host Central Michigan on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased here.
