SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State University is proud to welcome Roberto Rodriguez as the interim goalkeeping coach for the women’s soccer program. Rodriguez brings a wealth of experience, tactical expertise, and a proven track record of developing elite-level goalkeepers at both collegiate and professional levels.
"We are excited about the hiring of Roberto as our interim goalkeeping coach," said head coach Sonia Curvelo. "The goalkeeper position is a highly specialized role on the pitch, and Roberto has the experience, attention to detail, professionalism, and expertise to help improve our goalkeeping program at San José State. He wants to help build our program into a consistent competitor for winning Mountain West Conference championships. He is passionate about developing the goalkeepers in our program."
Coach Rodriguez’s arrival is a key step in strengthening the goalkeeping unit and overall competitive profile of the Spartans. His emphasis on tactical awareness, individualized training, and team coordination aligns with the values and ambitions of the San José State women’s soccer program.

- Development of standout freshman goalkeeper Trinity Hale
NCAA Division I Contributions:
- Assistant coach for Cal Poly Men’s Soccer (2021–2022)
- Oversaw goalkeeper and set-piece training
- Helped the team earn 6 clean sheets (2nd in Big West history)
- Guided GK Carlos Arce-Hurtado to an All-Conference honorable mention
