Spartans Shut Out Pacific, 2-0, Behind Second-Half Surge

STOCKTON, Calif. - Angel Iniguez and Jordi Tortell Daly both scored their first goals of the season to lead the San José State men’s soccer team (5-1-2, 0-0-0 WAC) in a 2-0 victory over Pacific (2-6, 0-0 WCC) on Sunday night from Knoles Field.

After a scoreless first half in which SJSU outshot the Tigers 8-3, the Spartans broke through in the 50th minute. Iniguez converted from the penalty spot, giving San José State a 1-0 advantage. 

In the 80th minute, Tortell Daly netted a goal off an Iniguez setup to double the lead. The Spartans’ defense, anchored by goalkeeper Edgar Guerra, held firm the rest of the way. Guerra made four saves to record his fifth win and fifth clean sheet of the campaign.
