FRESNO, Calif.—Darcy Spark scored a season-high seven goals as the No. 12 San José State women’s water polo team lost a tightly contested match to No. 7 Fresno State, 15-14 in overtime, Sunday afternoon in the team’s final match at the Polopalooza.
- Spark scored her seven goals on 11 shots taken.
- She scored four times in the second quarter, but her second goal in the third quarter gave SJSU a 12-11 lead.
- Rose Jensen scored four times in the match, no one goal more important than the one she scored with 55 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score at 13-13 and send the match to overtime.
- Bridget Cranley scored the team's only goal in the second overtime period to tie the match at 14-14.
- The Spartans held Fresno State scoreless in the third quarter and the first overtime period.
UP NEXT – San Jose State competes at the Brigitte Donner Daws Memorial Invitational, hosted by California, on January 24 and 25. The Spartans open the tournament with a rematch against the Bulldogs on the 24th at 11 a.m., and face UC Davis the same day at 6:30 p.m.
