Swimmers Improve Times in Dual Meet at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif.—The San José State women’s swimming and diving team had a successful meet at Stanford on Saturday as many Spartans improved their season times, including Ela Freiman who nearly broke her school record in the 100 individual medley.

  • The 200 medley relay team of Genevieve George, Vilma Lindberg, Lillie Grover and Lais e Silva started the meet by swimming the race in 1:41.75, the second-fastest time this season for SJSU.
  • Ela Freiman swam the 100 individual medley at 56.78, her fastest time this season and just 0.09 off her school record.
  • Luna Balbuena swam the second-fastest time this season in the 100 IM at 58.79.
  • Stephanie Sifferman swam her season-best and second-fastest time this season by an SJSU swimmer in the 200 freestyle at 1:49.73.
  • George led the trio of Spartan swimmers in the 100 back with a 55.58, the second-fastest time this season.
  • Dalton Sickon swam the fastest time in the 50 free this year at 23.05.
  • Nikki Lahey swam the second-fastest time this year in the 100 free at 50.85 to lead SJSU.
  • Vilma Lindberg finished second in the 200 breaststroke at 2:13.80, her best time this season.
  • The 200 free relay team of Lais e Silva, Grover, Lahey and Sickon swam the second-fastest time this season at 1:33.24.

UP NEXT – The Spartans return to the SRAC next Saturday, January 31, with a dual meet against Fresno State beginning at 1 p.m.
