SJSU Series Opener at Saint Mary’s Suspended in 13th Inning

MORAGA, Calif. — San José State’s baseball game at Saint Mary’s on Thursday afternoon was suspended due to darkness in the 13th inning with the score tied, 4-4.

The game will resume Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Louis Guisto Field at Br. Ronald Gallagher Stadium in Moraga, with play continuing from the point of suspension at the top of the 13th inning, streamed on ESPN+.

The Spartans (4 runs, 9 hits) and Gaels (4 runs, 13 hits) battled through 13 innings after SJSU scored three runs in the second inning and added another in the ninth thanks to a Rocco Caballero two-out RBI single to force extra innings.

Caballero led the Spartans offensively with two hits and two RBI, while Peyton Rowles added a pair of hits and Alex Fernandes tallied two RBI. 

On the mound, Luka Pintar delivered 6.0 innings of relief, allowing three runs and striking out three. Landon Marchetti struck out three and allowed one run in 4.2 innings in his first start of the season.

The second game of the series, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. tomorrow, will either remain at 2 p.m. or begin 45 minutes after the completion of game one on ESPN+.
