SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San José State baseball team (7-12, 2-1 MW) will host San Diego State (11-10, 2-1 MW) and UConn (10-11, 0-0 BIG EAST) this weekend at Excite Ballpark. The Spartans will face each opponent twice and SJSU's games against SDSU will not count towards conference records. The games can be streamed on Mountain West Network.

- The Spartans went 1-5 in the regular season against San Diego State last season, but beat the Aztecs 7-6 in an elimination game in the Mountain West Tournament
- The last time the Spartans defeated the Aztecs at home was on March 20, 2022, winning 9-8
- This will be the first ever meeting between the Spartans and Huskies
- David Thomas was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week last week after throwing six shutout innings in the Spartans' 1-0 win over New Mexico
- The Spartans team ERA of 6.30 is the third best in the Mountain West
- The Spartans have recorded four shutouts so far this season, the most since 2015
- The Spartans shutout New Mexico in two out of thre games in their conference opening series, the first time they shutout a team twice in a series since 2011
- Alex Fernandes leads the Mountain West with a .449 batting average, .560 on base percentage and 18 walks
- Fernandes went 5-for-5 in the season opener against LBSU, becoming the first Spartan since Shane Timmons in 2018 to go 5-for-5 in a game. He is also the only player in the Mountain West to have a five hit game this season
- Peyton Rowles hit a walkoff in back-to-back games, first against Cal (3/10) in a 3-2 win and then against New Mexico (3/13) in a 1-0 win
- Caden Duke leads the Mountain West with a 1.13 ERA
- Kyle Calzadiaz was named to the 2026 National Pitcher of the Year Watchlist
- Three Spartans, Tyler Albanese, Fernandes and Calzadiaz, were named to the preseason All Mountain West Team
