SAN JOSE, Calif. – Jake McCoy went 6-for-10 across two games on the day, including a walk off RBI against San Diego State and a three-run home run against UCONN to lead the San José State baseball team (9-12, 2-1 MW) in a 3-2 11-inning victory over San Diego State (11-11, 2-1 MW)  and in a 16-6 8-inning victory over UCONN Friday from Excite Ballpark.

Against San Diego State, after falling behind early on a wild pitch and sacrifice fly, the Spartans struggled to generate offense through six innings. The breakthrough came in the seventh, when Brent Cota launched a two-run homer to tie the game at 2-2 and swing momentum back to San José State .

From there, the Spartans’ bullpen took over. Relievers Kyle Calzadiaz and Caden Duke combined to shut down the Aztecs over the final eight innings, with Duke earning the win after tossing three scoreless frames.

The decisive moment came in the bottom of the 11th. After a leadoff single and a sacrifice bunt moved the winning run into scoring position, McCoy delivered a walk-off RBI single to right field, sealing the 3-2 victory.

McCoy led the Spartans offensively, going 3-for-5 with the game-winning RBI, while Peyton Rowles and Alan Ramirez each added multi-hit efforts. San José State out-hit San Diego State 9-7 and held the Aztecs to 0-11 with runners in scoring position.

Against UCONN, San José State erupted for 16 runs on 20 hits and four home runs, overwhelming UConn in a run-rule shortened contest and completing the doubleheader sweep.

The Spartans wasted no time, exploding for eight runs in the first inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from McCoy and a flurry of RBI hits that quickly put the game out of reach.

They didn’t let up. A six-run third inning, powered by a two-run homer from Alex Fernandes and multiple RBI singles, extended the lead to double digits and buried any hopes of a UConn comeback .

Fernandes starred at the top of the lineup, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs, while McCoy (3 RBIs), Osorio-Agard (four hits), and Jansen (three hits, three RBIs) fueled a relentless offensive attack. The Spartans finished 8-for-17 with runners in scoring position.
