SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San José State baseball team (12-16, 3-3 MW) will host Washington State (12-15, 5-4 MW) in a three game series at Excite Ballpark. The games can be streamed on Mountain West Network. Friday's game can be watched on NBC Sports Bay Area.

- Alex Fernandes holds a batting average of .452, good for sixth in the nation and second in the MW. If the season were to end today, Fernandes would have the best batting average of all time in a single season at SJSU, passing John Jurivich who batted .437 in 1961
- Additionally, Fernandes leads the MW and is seventh in the nation with a .560 OBP. He is also second in the conference in slugging and leads the conference in walks
- Rocco Caballero was named Brooks Wallace National Shortstop of the week on March 31. During that week, he hit .467 (7-for-15) with two doubles, five runs, three RBI, and four walks. He played error‑free defense and helped turn four double plays
- The Spartans have recorded four shutouts so far this season, the most since 2015
- The Spartans shutout New Mexico in two out of three games in their conference opening series, the first time they shutout a team twice in a series since 2011
- Fernandes went 5-for-5 in the season opener against LBSU, becoming the first Spartan since Shane Timmons in 2018 to go 5-for-5 in a game.
- Peyton Rowles hit a walkoff in back-to-back games, first against Cal (3/10) in a 3-2 win and then against New Mexico (3/13) in a 1-0 win
- Kyle Calzadiaz was named to the 2026 National Pitcher of the Year Watchlist
- Clazadiaz and David Thomas won back-to-back MW Pitcher of the Week Awards in March. SJSU had not won back-to-back pitcher of the week awards since 2005.
- The Spartans were picked to finish fifth in the Mountain West Preseason Poll
- Three Spartans, Tyler Albanese, Fernandes and Calzadiaz, were named to the preseason All Mountain West Team
