Peyton Rowles Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Peyton Rowles has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. Rowles is the first Spartan to earn MW Freshman of the Week since the conference introduced the award in 2022. 

This past week, Rowles went 6-for-14 with two RBIs, three runs scored, two walks and a double, helping SJSU go a perfect 3-0. He also batted .429 to go along with a .500 OBP and a .500 slugging percentage. Rowles had multiple hits in two of the three games last week, including three hits in the Spartans’ win over Cal. 

For the season, Rowles is currently second on the Spartans with a .340 batting average and .401 on base percentage. He also currently holds a 15 game hitting streak, the longest by any Spartan this season. Defensively, Rowles has been a part of 26 of the Spartans 33 double plays. To date, the Spartans have recorded the 35th most double plays in the nation. 

The Spartans went 3-0 last week with a midweek win over Cal and a two game series sweep at Fresno State. The Spartans will return to action tomorrow, April 21, against Pacific at Klein Family Field at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.

  • Back-to-back walk-off RBIs against Cal (3/10) and New Mexico (3/13)
  • Played at Benicia High School
