SAN JOSE, Calif. - Ahmiya Noriega hits an inside the park homerun on her senior day to lead the San José State softball team (15-30, 7-15 MW) to a 4-1 win over New Mexico (23-25, 10-12 MW) on Sunday afternoon.
Delaney Faus took the start for the Spartans and pitched a complete game, only allowing five hits, one run and striking out four batters in the contest.
The lone run for the Lobos came in the top of the second inning off of a sacrifice fly to right field.
The Spartans immediately responded at the bottom of the half inning. Leata Sherlin first ripped a double down the right field line to get on second base. Shay McDowell, on the first pitch she saw, ripped a double into the right-center gap to trade places with Sherlin.
Gigi Ortega next drew a walk to get on base. Down in a full count, Taylor Chillingworth lined a triple into the right-center gap to score both Ortega and McDowell to take the 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth inning in a hitter's count of 2-0 and two outs, Noriega hit a ball that hugged the first base bag that reached the outfield corner. Rounding second and getting the wave home, she touched home safely. Securing the game 4-1 on senior day.

- Six different Spartans collected hits: Reina Zermeno, Haley Reeve, Sherlin, McDowell, Chillingworth with Noriega collecting two
- This is Faus' second complete game in a row that has resulted in a win
- Zermeno has now extended her hit streak to eight and McDowell extends hers to seven
- This is Chillingworth's third game this season with two RBIs
UP NEXT: The Spartans will next travel to Boise, Idaho, to close out the season with a three-game series against Boise State starting on Thursday, April 30, with the first pitch of 5:00 p.m. PST.
